A volatile stock market, unpredictably disastrous weather, home mortgage crises and tightening credit crunch all add up to increasingly difficult home environments. They are already coping with tremendous hormone and brain chemistry changes, and have a biological imperative to establish a safe haven for their new charges.

I wonder what “too Westernized” means? Was she sleeping with her “boyfriend” maybe? Not that it would justify the father’s actions in our eyes, but in some other cultures, such things are treated much more seriously than they are in ours. In fact, what others perceive as our “moral failings” in such matters underlie their hatred for us. In turn, these deep rooted differences are why a negotiated and reasoned peace will never be possible.
